A Practical Overview for Buyers

1. Define the Requirement

Specify the product or category, required grade or specification, quantity, packaging, private-label needs, destination country, quality expectations, target timing and any documentation requirements. If a target price is relevant, state whether it is indicative or a firm commercial requirement.

2. Identify Potential Suppliers

Potential manufacturers, producers or suppliers can then be reviewed against the buyer’s stated needs. 3. Compare Quotations and Specifications

4. Review Samples Where Applicable

5. Confirm Packaging and Documentation

Packaging and labeling requirements should be agreed before production or preparation. Documentation depends on product, destination, shipment and applicable requirements, so the buyer should confirm destination-market obligations with the relevant parties.
