International Buyer Guide
Why Packaging Details Matter
Packaging affects product protection, handling, presentation, freight efficiency and destination-market suitability. Buyers should define packaging requirements before order confirmation so suppliers can quote and prepare the product accurately.
Primary and Secondary Packaging
Primary packaging is the material directly containing or protecting the product. Secondary packaging groups primary packs for handling, storage or shipment. Requirements differ by product, so buyers should specify material, pack size, closure, barrier needs, inner protection and outer carton configuration where relevant.
Bulk vs Retail Packaging
Bulk packaging may suit distributors, food-service buyers or manufacturers using products as ingredients. Retail packaging may require consumer-facing pack sizes, branding and labeling. Private-label orders can involve artwork approval, print specifications, label placement and minimum quantities depending on supplier capability.
Labeling Information
Product name and description
Net quantity
Lot or batch identification where applicable
Origin information where required
Storage or handling information where relevant
Buyer/private-label artwork where applicable
Other destination-market information confirmed by the buyer
Carton Configuration and Handling
Buyers should clarify units per carton, carton dimensions, gross and net weight, palletization if required, stacking or handling considerations and any special protection needed for transport.
Confirm Applicable Requirements
